The Z Tread is an open riser or riserless stair tread design optimized for economy and functionality including features for LED strip light mounting and code compliance for riser openings.
Self-Supporting and Easy to Install: The Z Tread is self-supporting when the ends are bolted to load bearing supports at the stringers and engineered for deflection of less than L/360 for a 300 lb. point load. The Z Tread is optimized for an open riser or riserless design and weight optimized.
Code Compliant for Open Riser Stairs: The Z Tread includes flanges that reduce the riser opening to less than a 4" opening for a maximum stair rise of 7" thus ensuring code compliance to the maximum opening restriction.
Designed for LED Strip Light Mounting: LED strip lights can be easily mounted behind the nosing turn down flange for pathway lighting and luxury appearance.
Durable Black Patina Finish: Treads sold with our Black Patina finish are naturally rust aged and then rust converted to a true black patina with Black-Max Rust Converter. There is no coating to wear off and the rust is arrested, transformed and blackened into a true chemical patina. Richmond Iron Black Patina Process.
Domestically Made to Order from 100% Local Recycled Metal: Our cast iron treads and risers are designed, poured and finished at our foundry in Richmond, Virginia, USA using clean electric induction melting of locally sourced scrap iron. All cast iron treads and risers meet ASTM A48 Standard Specification for Gray Iron Castings, Class 30.
Please note that while our cast iron stair treads and risers are designed for ease of installation, they are exclusively sold to qualified tradespeople, installers and metal fabricators and shipping is limited to commercial addresses with truck access excluding direct delivery to Manhattan.
