The University Riser adds dazzling brilliance to any staircase with our SoHo subway vault inspired glass prisms and your LED lighting. Our glass prisms are hand molded in our foundry using the highest quality crystal clear cullet and the minor imperfections and fine bubbles of hand made glass ensure that lighting sources are obscured and transformed into stunning luminaires.
Easy to Install: The University Riser is easily installed with pre-drilled countersunk holes at the ends for bolting up to clips at the stringers. The University Riser does not need to be supported by the treads nor is it designed to support treads above and can be used with our University Tread or treads supplied by others.
Universal Riser Height: The University Riser can be used for any stair rise from 6.5" to 7" when installed with our University Tread. The University Tread includes a turn down lip at the nosing which allows for various rise height mountings while hiding the gap at the top of the riser. The University Riser is compatible with other treads like wood or concrete treads, but the staircase must be detailed for the fitup height of the University Riser.
Durable Black Patina Finish: All University Risers are furnished with our Black Patina finish. Risers are naturally rust aged and then rust converted to a true black patina with Black-Max Rust Converter before installation of the glass prisms. Domestically Made to Order from 100% Local Recycled Metal: Our cast iron treads and risers are designed, poured and finished at our foundry in Richmond, Virginia, USA using clean electric induction melting of locally sourced scrap iron. All cast iron treads and risers meet ASTM A48 Standard Specification for Gray Iron Castings, Class 30.
Please note that while our cast iron stair treads and risers are designed for ease of installation, they are exclusively sold to qualified tradespeople, installers and metal fabricators and shipping is limited to commercial addresses with truck access excluding direct delivery to Manhattan.
